Animal Specialty Hospital of Florida has trained experienced emergency veterinarians as well as a board-certified specialist in Emergency and Critical Care on premises at its new, technologically-advanced hospital located at 10130 Market Street, Suite 1, Naples, Florida, 34112.

The Department of Critical Care is uniquely headed by Dr. Ashley Ayoob, our dual board-certified specialist in Emergency and Critical Care (American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care) and internal medicine (American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine).  She is the only board-certified specialist in these two specialties in Southwest Florida. The combination of these two disciplines allows for Dr. Ayoob to approach any critically ill patient from both an acute and chronic standpoint, allowing her to better understand the underlying systemic processes occurring in a wide range of disease. Using the combined knowledge from these two fields she can suggest an integrated diagnostic and therapeutic plan designed to optimize your pet’s recovery. In addition to Dr. Ayoob, the department is also staffed by experienced emergency doctors and a critical care nursing team. Our department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year with an experienced veterinarian always in the hospital to monitor and provide care to our hospitalized patients.

The Department of Critical Care provides initial stabilization and advanced life support of critically ill and injured patients in conjunction with the other Departments within the hospital. Dr. Ayoob is well versed in the acute resuscitation of trauma patients as well as pets exposed to toxins and infectious disease. The Critical Care Department will provide peri-surgical and anesthetic support as well as long term management to all hospitalized patients including state-of-the-art continuous monitoring, blood pressure support, short and long-term mechanical ventilation, fluid therapy, transfusion medicine, and advanced pain management and relief. In addition to this, nutritional consultations and implementation of personalized nutritional plans will be available to support all critically ill patients to optimize their recovery.
