Oncology

The veterinary medical oncologist diagnoses, treats and coordinates the care of pets with cancer in a caring, gentle environment. Dr. DiBernardi’s primary goal is to maximize the patient’s quality of life, with a secondary goal of fighting cancer to prolong the good times with your canine or feline companion. Surgery, chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy may be recommended for the treatment of cancer. Treatment of cancer in animals is quite different than in human beings; most veterinary oncology patients feel great while receiving their treatments.

As oncology patients rarely require a single service, we offer combined medical and surgical oncology services in our facility with full internal medicine support if your dog or cat needs additional treatment. We utilize a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic options when treating pets with cancer, including our in-house MRI and CT scanners.

Common Oncology Diagnostics and Treatments

 Our oncology services include:

  • Cancer treatment management by a board-certified Oncologist
  • Chemotherapy, cryotherapy and immunotherapy
  • Management of chemotherapy side-effects
  • Pain management
  • Pathology and cytology report consultation
  • Fine needle aspiration and cytology
  • Bone marrow aspiration and evaluation

Dr. DiBernardi sees patients by referral on Monday & Wednesdays.  Please call to make an appointment.
